Dr. Sreekala

Dr. Sreekala obtained her Master’s degree in Biochemistry from Maharani Lakshmi Ammanni College for Women, Bangalore University. After completion of M.Sc, she joined as a Project Assistant in the Clinical Proteomics laboratory at St. John’s Research Institute (SJRI), Bangalore. During her tenure in SJRI, she was trained in various analytical techniques like Column Chromatography, HPLC, and high-end instruments like MALDI AND ESI-Mass Spectrometry. She received experience in employing different types of Mass Spectrometers like Q-TOF and Triple Quad for various projects.

She pursued her Doctoral degree under Dr. Amit Kumar Mandal from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences for the thesis entitled “Structure and function analysis of glutathionylated and glycated conjugates of commonly occurring Hemoglobin variants in India: HbE, HbD and HbA2”. Currently she is working as a Senior Research Associate in the Department of Molecular Oncology at Sri Shankara Cancer Hospital and Research Centre. She is in-charge of the Mass Spectrometry facility in the department and is involved in many research projects involving mass spectrometry platform. She is actively involved in monitoring the activities of the Biobank and also in the development of a LIMS software for the Biobank facility in the department. Her research interests include Breast cancer, Head & Neck cancer, Hematological malignancies, Proteomics, Metabolomics.
