Professional Overview

Dr. Annapurna is the Senior Consultant and Head of the Department of Gynecologic Oncology at Sri Shankara Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, Bengaluru. A JIPMER alumna, she completed her MBBS in 1995, MD in Obstetrics & Gynaecology in 1998, and DNB in 1999. She underwent super-specialty training in gynecologic oncology at Kidwai Memorial Institute (2004–2007) and is a certified robotic console surgeon.

With over 20 years of experience, she specializes in managing gynecologic cancers, cancer during pregnancy, fertility preservation, hereditary syndromes (BRCA, Lynch), and advanced procedures like PIPAC. She has worked at premier institutions across India and has been part of SSCHRC since 2012.

She is faculty and examiner for DrNB Gynecologic Oncology and currently pursuing her PhD in ovarian cancer. An editor and reviewer for national oncology journals, she also led the launch of the DrNB program at SSCHRC, with her first student receiving the President’s Gold Medal.
